Laren Lewis, for the second year in a row, claimed a GRPA State Championship in both the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run. Her time in the 800 this past weekend was 2:28.30. Her time in the 1600 meter run was 5:43.65. Amara Onyeukwu also claimed a State Championship in the 200 meter dash. She ran a time 25.73 in the finals. In the 400, her time of 57.27 which she ran in the prelims was the fastest time run in the 400 meter dash across all age groups, and was good enough to set a new GRPA age 14&under State record. The previous record was a time of 57.53. She took 2nd in the 400 meters. Amara also competed in the Long jump, where her mark of 17 ft and 2 inches was good enough to claim 5th. Amara also holds the GRPA State record in the  400 meters in the 11-12 age bracket. Both Lauren and Amara currently compete in the 13 – 14 & under age bracket. In the 11-12 age bracket, Bryson Brown’s jump of 4 feet & 5 inches claimed him a State Championship. This is Bryson’s 2nd GRPA State T&F title.
