Quicksilver All American & Alumni Bria Matthews won the outdoor ACC Track & Field Championships with a mark of 45 feet, .5 inches (13.73 meters) in the Triple Jump. This mark was good enough to set a new Georgia Tech outdoor triple jump record. Recently, Bria won the ACC Indoor Championships in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump in March of this year. Prior to this past weekend, the 3rd best U.S. performance this year was 45 feet, 9 inches. Matthews’ performance this past weekend would tie her for 5th best nationally this year.
Bria also competed in the long jump. She took home 4th place, still while setting another school record with a jump of 21 feet, 2 & 3/4th’s inch (6.47 meters). Former Quicksilver standout, Jamilah Middlebrooks also competed in the 100 & 200 meters at the ACC Championships. Jamilah is daughter to sprints coach, Jon Middlebrooks and recently graduated from Georgia Tech with a Chemical Engineering degree.
The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships took place from May 13th to the 15th at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Georgia Tech women’s team finished 15th out of 15 teams. Georgia Tech men’s team finished 14th out of 14 teams. Full results can be found here.
